Lee has a wealth of experience and has worked professionally in Melbourne since 2003 and has literally planned and performed at hundreds of weddings. He has played at venues such as Circa the Prince, Leonda, The Terrace, The Baths, The Pier, The Brighton Savoy & countless others. Mitch is a Melbourne based singer/ songwriter and multi-instrumentalist playing around town for the past 5 years. He is known for his stage performances, retro showmanship and for performing a wide range of music styles including R&B, Funk, Pop, Soul, Reggae & Hip Hop.   • How much experience do Wedding DJ Melbourne's performers have?
    Nearly all of our talent has 10+ years experience performing at weddings. At this time we will not work with performers who have less that 5 years experience in wedding performances.
  • Why is "WEDDING" experience so important at Wedding DJ Melbourne?
    Performing at weddings is like performing at no no other event. Performers must know a very wide range of music and be able to determine when to move to the next genre and also execute things like entries, first dances etc. There is also a type of pressure performing at weddings which is different from a bar or club, and playing at many weddings is the only way to ensure you can execute professionally at any type of wedding.
  • How much experience does Wedding DJ Melbourne have at helping create run sheets?
    If you need assistance with planning your run sheet, Lee Cassidy our business owner and Talent Manager has helped create 100s of run sheets and has nearly 20 years wedding experience. He can help you with this in your pre-planning zoom.
  • What is a Pre-Planning Zoom?
    A pre-planning zoom will be conducted by our Talent Manager, Lee and will work towards the following goals: Help you plan out your run sheet, either broadly or specifically. If it's already completed to run through with some potential ideas or alternatives if required. Give you an idea of all the things you and your partner will need to think about, or make a decision on, regarding your wedding entertainment. Discuss music ideas and selections surrounding the different parts of the evening, that is tailored specifically for your event. Discuss pricing and inclusions as well as the process to potentially move forward with Wedding DJ Melbourne. Answer any general questions you have about your wedding entertainment requirements.
  • What do I need to supply to my performer prior to our event?
    There are 3 main things that are required to supply your wedding performer: A finalised (or updated) detailed run sheet of the event. The venues and/or wedding planner's contact details including names and mobile phone numbers. A list of requested songs for the Bridal Party Entrance, First Dance, Last Song etc. or general dancing. Note, you will be supplied a set list from acoustic performers to choose from and can discuss other specific requests with them during planning.
  • Can I choose my own DJ/MC/Singer?
    You can choose your own talent for your event. This will be strictly determined by the availability of that performer and that they agree to the performance. For example, if the event is a 3 hour drive from their home. Generally speaking, we would prefer to suggest a performer based on your requirements.
  • What will my performer wear?
    Our performers are always dressed in professional attire or such that is suited to your event. I.e. we'd generally not choose to wear a tuxedo, particularly if the performer has to transport heavy equipment.
  • When do our performers set up?
    Generally speaking for each performer type: DJ - 2 hours prior to performance MC - 30 minutes prior to performance Singer - 1 hour prior to performance
  • How long does my performer perform?
    Our standard performance lengths are below, but this can be altered if additional time is required. Note, there may be additional fees for additional performance time: DJ - 5 hours (performance time) MC - The entire event Singer - 3 x 40minute sets (spread over 3 hours)
  • Do I need to provide our talent meals?
    No. This is completely optional, but if possible is of course well-received. There will be no hard feelings if we're not supplied a meal as we respect every couple, event and budget is different.
  • I'm really confused about how MCs work, can you please explain?
    When it comes to obtaining an MC for your wedding, there are 3 main ways that this will occur: You don't hire a DJ at all and get a friend or family member to do it. With this option there are 2 things you really need to consider; do they have experience (and can pull it off) & will this impact in a great way their ability to also enjoy the evening. Hire a standalone MC for the evening. This will mean the MCs sole role is to MC for the entire evening with no other commitments. Hire a DJ that can also MC for the event. This is also a great option if budget is a major consideration. Please note generally this will be more 'basic' MCing as the DJ will also have another function of keeping the music together. No option is right or wrong, your decision should depend upon your wedding vision and requirements; just make sure you hire talent that has a lot of experience to ensure quality.
  • Can we meet to discuss music options?
    Yes, our preferred platform is zoom. You will have opportunities to discuss music choices in the initial Pre-Planning zoom with Lee and then your performer. You will also be able to ask any questions via text or email just prior to the event for any last-minute adjustments if required.
  • How do I get ideas or select the music for the night?
    Firstly, don't think that you have to plan all the music or select every song. What we find works best is a balance of requests, which may be specific songs or genres, and the performers choices. If you're struggling for inspiration you can head to our Music Page with a wide selection of mini-mixes and recordings of our acoustic talent. We can also send you our singers' song lists for more inspiration. You can also discuss directly with our owner in your Pre-Planning zoom or direct to your talent, they'd love to help you.
  • How do Wedding DJ Melbourne's requests work?
    For our DJs - we find that splitting the requests into "must plays" and "requests" works best. This means no matter what the must play song is, it will be played, and when the requests fit into a genre they will be worked into the set. For our Singers - you will receive an up-to-date song list with all the songs they currently perform to choose from. There may be potential for the Singer to learn a song but this is dependent on the song and the singer's schedule.
  • How do your deposits/payments/cancellations work?
    We accept a deposit (after signing our straight-forward agreement) which will never exceed 50% of the total fee and often less than 50%. The final payment will be invoiced to you around 4 weeks prior the event date. If your event date needs to be changed for any reason your deposit will be transferred to the new date. Deposits cannot be returned if your event is cancelled with no future schedule for the performance.
  • Will you travel outside of Melbourne?
    We regularly travel outside Melbourne and will only charge additional travel fees if the venue is more that 1 hour travel from Melbourne's CBD. Please note we travel to Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley without any additional fee.
  • What if my scheduled performer is unable to perform on the day?
    We will work our own networks and, if need be, external networks to find you a suitable replacement for the event. Our owner is a professional DJ/MC and is also available on standby. This is one key benefit of working with an agency and not a standalone DJ/MC or Singer.
  • How far in advance should I book?
    Generally speaking, if possible 12-18 months is ideal as we're more likely to have availability. That being said, if we have availability we can find an amazing performer a few weeks out.
  • Who can I call on the day if there is an issue?
    Your first port-of-call will be to your performer direct and/or our Talent Manager, Lee Cassidy.
  • Do you provide a Wireless Mic for speeches?
    Our DJs always provide Wireless Microphones and speakers to disperse the audio. If there is a "front-of-house" Wireless Mic the DJ may opt to use that if preferable. This is at no additional cost to you. With our Standalone MCs, meaning those who are hired on their own, you will be required to ensure the venue has a front-of-house PA for them to use, or that your DJ can provide the Mic and speakers for the MC to use.
  • Do you provide Lights?
    Some of our packages include lighting while others do not. Sound of Music Package - does not include lighting Music & Lights & MC Bundle Packages - do include lighting equipment and setup/pack up Note, that if you wish to purchase the MC Bundle package and do not require lighting there will be a reduction in package price. Generally speaking Singers do not perform with lighting equipment.
